This classic Tudor style house at 6446 Wiltshire Street sold for $3,300,000 on May 3, 2012 after 94 days on the market. It was originally listed for $3.399M by Julia Lau of Sotheby’s Int’l Realty (drives a red Porsche 911 Turbo) on January 31, 2012, and was relisted at $3.599 on April 4th, 2012.
The house is 4027 sq ft over three levels on a 11,422 sq ft property at Wiltshire and 49th in South Granville. The property has a 75 ft frontage and is 157 ft deep. It was a first time listing for this well maintained four bedroom, four bathroom house. The house has large rooms and a kitchen that appears to have been updated sometime in the 90′s. It has a unique floor to ceiling wood-paneled den that was used a professional office space at one time. There is a large front to back living room, with a wood burning fireplace, that is perfect for entertaining. The hardwood floors throughout both the main and upstairs floors are in excellent condition. The bedrooms boast lovely, painted iron chandeliers. Unfortunately, the basement ceiling is only about 7 feet high, although the basement contains an interesting man-style retreat, with a pool table and bar.
This house on Wiltshire is an excellent example of a large, livable family home on the west side of Vancouver. The house is livable, as is, and with minimal renovation could be really fabulous. The house could even be lifted, or dug out, to create an excellent high-ceiling basement.
Did this house sell as a teardown? I don’t really know but probably. I’ll be watching for the demolition sale because I’d like to get those chandeliers. Its a shame, really. In most cities this house would be renovated to full Tudor glory, with a beautiful kitchen, pretty breakfast nook, and glass paned doors opening off the dining room onto a sunny deck.
When we asked our realtor, Danny Deng, (he drives a black Mercedes Benz S500) what he thought about the house he said, “Well, its pretty close to 49th so it might be noisy, but it is still a good building lot.”
